Through Carver’s research, he helped countless people by creating hundreds of useful products such as medicine, flour, ink, soap, and lotions from peanuts, sweet potatoes, and soybeans. With his Jesup Wagon, Carver taught others how to treat plant fungal diseases and restorative farming techniques. Avant-garde Books, LLC is the first Black mother/daughter-owned bookstore in the world. While their physical location at the Mall West End in SW Atlanta is no longer open, they are still committed to promoting literacy and learning, especially among socioeconomically disadvantaged children. Their mission is not just to sell books, but they strive to save and empower members of their commUNITY with the right knowledge about themselves, their history, race, culture, and identity.
